The Centre for Turkish Language Teaching, Application and Research at Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ TÖMER) has successfully completed the evaluation process conducted by the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Language Learning and Preparatory Centres (DÖDAK) and has been accredited for a period of five years.
The accreditation process, which comprehensively assessed the work carried out by ESOGÜ TÖMER in the areas of teaching and learning, assessment and evaluation, student services, quality assurance and institutional operations, served as a significant indicator of the Centre’s commitment to quality and continuous improvement in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language. A significant step in ESOGÜ TÖMER’s accreditation journey was taken in 2025. As part of the quality improvement initiatives led by the Centre’s Director at the time, Prof. Dr Oktay Berber, an application for accreditation was submitted to DÖDAK in August 2025. Following the acceptance of the application, work on self-assessment, the preparation of evidence dossiers and the improvement of institutional processes continued with the contributions of academic and administrative staff. Following the handover ceremony held on 9 September 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr Tuba Onat Çakıroğlu took over as Director of the ESOGÜ TÖMER Directorate. Together with Deputy Directors Dr Aliye Nur Ercan Güven and Dr Saniye Eraslan Kaleli, the new management team continued the quality and accreditation initiatives launched during the previous term, guided by a principle of institutional continuity. This process, which culminated in a five-year accreditation, represented a significant achievement resulting from a long-term quality initiative shaped by the joint efforts of previous and current management teams, as well as academic and administrative staff. ESOGÜ TÖMER Director Assoc. Prof. Dr Tuba Onat Çakıroğlu stated that this success represented a significant institutional achievement for the Centre and expressed her gratitude to all academic and administrative staff who contributed to the process, particularly the former Director, Prof. Dr Oktay Berber, whose contributions were instrumental in initiating and managing the accreditation process.
The management of ESOGÜ TÖMER stated that, following the five-year accreditation granted by DÖDAK, it would continue to contribute to the teaching of Turkish internationally by maintaining its work in line with the principles of student-centred education, high-quality Turkish language teaching, transparent assessment and evaluation, and continuous improvement.
