
Eskişehir Osmangazi University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (ESOGU TÖMER) organized an enthusiastic graduation ceremony hosted by ESOGU Turkuaz Restaurant for the trainees and students who completed their Turkish preparatory education. The ceremony was attended by ESOGU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Emine Gümüşsoy, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hakan Demiral, Advisor to the Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yakup Murat Bulut, TÖMER Director Prof. Dr. Oktay Berber, Assistant Directors Assoc. Dr. Tuba Onat Çakıroğlu and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Oktay Berber, Vice Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tuba Onat Çakıroğlu and Assist. Prof. Dr. Aliye Nur Ercan Güven, ESOGU TÖMER management, some deans and directors of ESOGU, academic and administrative staff and many academicians attended the event.
The ceremony started with the opening speeches and the first speaker was Tarneem Jaber from Palestine, representing the Turkish Scholarship students. Referring to the human tragedy taking place in Palestine in front of the eyes of the world, Jaber expressed her longing for her country and her family and thanked the university authorities for the opportunities offered to them, stating that Turkey and ESOGU TÖMER are her second home and family. After the graduation speech of Kazakhstan trainee Alua Bakutbek, ESOGU TÖMER Director Prof. Dr. Oktay Berber delivered the opening speech. Stating in his speech that they had a beautiful journey together with students and trainees from forty-six different countries in nine classes in the 2024-2025 academic year, Berber said, "Today you are graduating. But in fact, you are only closing one door and opening new doors. Turkey is now your second home. Wherever you go from now on, you will continue on your way with a few words of Turkish in your heart, with a piece of love from Turkey." and thanked the academic and administrative staff who contributed to this journey. In her speech, Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Emine Gümüşşoy emphasized the efforts of ESOGU TÖMER management, professors and staff who worked patiently and with great devotion in the process of trainees and students learning Turkish. Prof. Dr. Gümüşsoy said, "I would like to express that Eskişehir Osmangazi University will always continue to be your second home. I am sure that some of you will have a successful education life in undergraduate and graduate programs and some of you in programs at different universities. In this respect, I wish that all the beautiful dreams in your hearts will come true and your path will be clear." Referring to the speech of Palestinian student Tarneem Jaber, he wished that the long-standing persecution in Palestine would end as soon as possible and expressed that the Republic of Turkey stands by the oppressed people of Palestine.
After the opening speeches, the graduation cake was cut and videos and photos of the memories that the students had accumulated during their one year at TÖMER were shown. Student from Kyrgyzstan Uulbek Asankanova's music recital received great applause in the hall.
Following the presentation of certificates to the trainees and students by the management and academic staff of ESOGU, a cap throwing ceremony was held. The ceremony ended after souvenir photos were taken and refreshments were served.
